Navy Arrest Personnel Involved in Clash with Colleagues During Tinubu’s Visit to Bayelsa

The Nigerian Navy says it has arrested of its personnel involved in a public altercation with counterparts from the Nigerian Army during the recent visit of President Bola Tinubu to Bayelsa State.

The incident, which video has gone viral on social media, captured a tense confrontation between uniformed officers that escalated into a physical fight.

In the footage, a Naval Police driver was seen stepping out of his vehicle and engaging in a verbal exchange with another driver before the situation turned violent.

Another soldier, reportedly armed, approached and threw a punch, triggering a chaotic clash involving personnel from both sides, while bystanders looked on in shock.

The altercation was said to have occurred as the president was departing from an official engagement, although the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear.

Reacting, the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunso, confirmed that those involved have been taken into custody and are undergoing disciplinary procedures in accordance with military regulations.

He emphasised that the navy is treating the incident with seriousness, reaffirming its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and order within the armed forces.
