The Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command says it has arrested three suspects linked to the killing of two police officers during a stop-and-search operation in Aluu Community on June 29, 2026.

According to Agabe, the officers were attacked while on duty, with one sustaining severe leg injuries that later led to amputation before he died. The attackers also made away with the officers’ service AK-47 rifles.
She explained that the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, immediately ordered a full-scale investigation, directing all operational and intelligence units to track down those responsible and recover the stolen weapons.
Acting on the directive, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit carried out intelligence-led operations that led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Maduabuchi Emeka, also known as “Doctor,” a 34 year old male from Egbata Community, Chinedu Owhor, a 42 year old male from Akabuka Community and Kamachi Joe, a 28 year old male from Egbata Community, all in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
The Police say three AK-47 rifles and one Scorpion rifle were recovered during the operation. Investigators also disclosed that the suspects have been linked to other murder cases currently under investigation.
The Command says efforts are ongoing to arrest a fourth member of the gang who remains at large.
Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, describing the arrests as a demonstration of the Command’s determination to ensure that those who attack security personnel or engage in violent crime have no hiding place in Rivers State.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in line with the policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and warned criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to improve security across the state.
