Olusegun Marks Full Debut With First FC Rostov Goal

Super Eagles forward Olakunle Olusegun announced himself in style by scoring his first goal for FC Rostov during a commanding 4-0 victory over Akron Togliatti in their Russian Cup Group D opener.

Having recently completed his permanent move from FC Krasnodar, the 24-year-old had made two substitute appearances in the Russian Premier League before earning his first start for Rostov.

The Nigerian wasted no time justifying his inclusion, breaking the deadlock after only five minutes at the Solidarnost Samara Arena.

Yaroslav Mikhailov doubled Rostov’s advantage two minutes later before Imran Aznaurov added a third shortly after the restart. Danila Prokhin completed the rout in the 65th minute as Rostov cruised to a convincing victory.

The goal marks a dream beginning for Olusegun at his new club and provides a huge confidence boost as he settles into life with Rostov.

Akpom Continues Fine Preseason Form

In England, Chuba Akpom continued his excellent preseason preparations by scoring the winning goal as Ipswich Town edged French side Le Havre 1-0 at Portman Road.

The Nigerian striker started on the bench before replacing Emersonn at the beginning of the second half with the match still goalless.

Just 12 minutes after coming on, Akpom calmly found the back of the net to hand the Tractor Boys the lead, with his strike ultimately proving enough to secure another preseason victory.

It was Akpom’s second goal in successive friendlies after also scoring against Osasuna, further strengthening his case for a regular place in Gary O’Neil’s starting lineup ahead of Ipswich’s return to the Premier League.
