Two Nigerian gospel artists, Nathaniel Bassey and Victoria Orenze, have joined thousands around the world in mourning the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was 31 years old.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was a controversial but influential voice in U.S. politics, known for championing conservative values and faith-based activism.

His sudden death has sparked an outpouring of grief and reflection across political, religious, and cultural communities worldwide.
Nathaniel Bassey expressed his sadness in a brief Instagram post, writing:
“Pained. Rest in the Lord, Charlie Kirk.”
Victoria Orenze offered a more extended tribute on her Instagram page, describing Kirk as a man who lived and spoke boldly for truth.
“Truth cannot be killed! Truth cannot be silenced! Truth cannot be stopped,” she wrote.
She further prayed for Kirk’s wife and children, asking that the Holy Spirit comfort them, while adding that his death is a reminder that “we are clearly in the last days.”
For both artists, Kirk’s passing was not just a political moment but a spiritual marker, a call for Christians worldwide to reflect on their own commitment to faith, truth, and purpose.
As debates continue globally about the implications of Kirk’s assassination, Nigerian gospel voices like Bassey and Orenze have framed it as both a personal loss and a wake-up call to remain steadfast in the face of life’s brevity.
