Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Madueke joined other naval formations across the country to commemorate the landmark 70th Anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.
As part of the celebration, NNS MADUEKE executed a series of high-impact civil-military activities and internal celebrations aimed at fostering community development, youth mentorship, and local harmony in Enugu State.

Speaking to journalist during the week-long activities, which commenced on Monday, May 25, 2026, with a colorful Anniversary Party organized for the ship’s company, the Commander, NNS Madueke, Commodore Nsikan Friday expressed delight over the 70 years milestone achieved by the Nigerian Navy.
He noted that the anniversary was worth celebrating, thus across the nation, social impact projects, community interface initiatives, as well as other celebratory activities were ongoing to deepen civil-military relationship, citizen engagement and convivial interactions with host communities of naval formations.





The week-long anniversary activities commenced on Monday, May 25, 2026, with a colorful Anniversary Party organized for the ship’s company.
The event brought together officers and ratings of the Base, as well as its civilian friends, providing a platform to celebrate the rich traditions, resilience, and operational successes of the Nigerian Navy over the past seven decades.
Sustaining the momentum on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, NNS MADUEKE extended its footprint into the host community by organizing a robust educational outreach for primary and secondary schools within the Adani Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.





The well-attended outreach drew students, pupils, and educators from several prominent local institutions, including Community Primary School, Premier Primary School, Central Primary School, Union Primary School, and Uzo-Uwani Secondary School, all in Adani Community.
During the outreach, the Boat Officer, Lieutenant John Ikedum delivered an inspiring sensitization lecture, enlightening the youth on the history, constitutional mandates, and career opportunities within the Nigerian Navy, while motivating them toward academic excellence and civic responsibility.

To support local education, NNS MADUEKE distributed educational exercise books to the students and pupils, while customized NN@70 polo shirts were presented to teachers and invited dignitaries.










In a further bid to solidify civil-military relations, the Base organized a thrilling novelty football match played between a combined team of security agencies and the host, Adani Community.









The highly competitive encounter, which drew a large crowd of local spectators, ended with the winning team carting home a championship trophy and a generous cash reward.
Adding color and cultural flair to the event, local troupes took center stage during the halftime break, entertaining the audience with vibrant traditional dances.

The security-community sports fiesta concluded with the further distribution of customized NN@70 polo shirts to players, match officials, and special guests, leaving a lasting impression of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
