The Rivers State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society has elected new executive members to steer the affairs of the organisation for the next four years.
The election was conducted during the Branch’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Port Harcourt last weekend. The process, described as free and fair, was supervised by an Electoral Committee chaired by Bright Odum.

At the end of the exercise, Professor Uche Dike was returned as Branch Chairman. Other elected officials include Dr. Irimoren Tina as Vice Chairman; Eze Ahiakwo as Legal Adviser; Caroline Gbobbo as Finance and Property Management Adviser; Nathaniel Aniekan Moses as Finance and Resource Mobilisation Adviser; and Dr. Ibinabo Ogolo as Communication and Advocacy Adviser.
Also elected were Moses LimeJuice as Capacity Development Adviser; Sunday ThankGod Muagah as Disaster Management Adviser; Etche Loveday Sunday as Programme Planning Adviser; Dr. Lucy Nwigo Mama as Health and Care Adviser; Gladys Fubara Jumbo as Divisional Development Adviser; and Joyful Benson as Volunteer, Gender and Youth Adviser.
The newly elected executives were subsequently inaugurated, marking the commencement of a new leadership phase for the Rivers State Branch.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Dike commended the outgoing executive council for their service and pledged to build on their achievements. He urged members to remain proactive and committed to advancing the humanitarian mission of the society in the state.
He also expressed appreciation to the national representatives for ensuring a credible electoral process and disclosed plans to engage the Rivers State Government to strengthen collaboration in humanitarian service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the National Headquarters, Abuja, the National Branch Development Adviser, Nworie Emmanuel Nte, charged the new executives to uphold the vision and values of the Red Cross. He also encouraged members to intensify their volunteer efforts and update their membership records in the official Red Cross database.
Other national officials present at the AGM included National Officer Dr. Adamu Bable and the Zonal Secretary of the South-South Branch Secretaries, Wilson Ekhomogiazin. Former branch executives, divisional coordinators, and volunteers were also in attendance.
