As the controversy over the NNPCL Bonny Oloma Right of Way Demolition Project continues to rage, the Chief and Head of Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom, Se-Alabo Clinton Dan-Jumbo, Jene IV has called on the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area o halt the demolitions.
He also challenged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) to show proof that it legally acquired the size of land under contention from the rightful owners, Jumbo House of Bonny Kingdom.

In a telephone interview with Kristina Reports on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Chief Jene IV asserted that there are grey areas around the demolition exercise that needs to be resolved, observing that the clandestine approach to the project by the implementers raises curiosity as to its transparency and legality.
The NNPC Limited, through its subsidiary, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) is pursuance of the project is currently carrying out demolition of properties around the pipeline area of Ayambo Community in Bonny LGA.
NEPL is executing the project through its contractor, WAGL Energy Limited, which sublet the contract to Kristal Polis Limited.
“It is important to note that this right of way predates the Land Use Act, meaning this was Jumbo House land. I need to know, as one of the Chiefs of Jumbo House, the exact size of land that was given out, was it leased or an outright purchase?”

“Furthermore, over 90% of the properties along that axis belong to members of Jumbo House, I cannot therefore fold my arms and watch whilst properties belonging to my people are destroyed.”
“This sounds like victimisation and for what? When you abandoned what you claimed was your property and slept over your right, if actually you have one, as we are yet to see any document that gives you the land and the size we gave you.”
“This injustice shall not stand and no responsible people or government will allow this, which is why I am calling on the Bonny Local Government Chairman, whose government I strongly believe is a responsible government, to act, by stopping this demolition until a robust engagement is undertaken.”
“Imagine the number of persons who will become homeless, and out of these, so many will lose their lives from frustration and heartbreak. What about the children who will also be rendered homeless?

He expressed the belief that indigenes of Bonny Kingdom were not involved in the process, saying he would be ashamed to find any Bonny Kingdom person colluding with externals to undo their kith and kin.
“Where is our humanity? I just hope as Bonny people, we have not lost our consciences like this and for how much?”
“I will indeed be ashamed for any Bonny person involved in driving this evil process; I am sure our ancestors will be rolling and tumbling in their graves over all this evil and inhumanity of man to his fellow man.”
Meanwhile, the Dan-Jumbo House Chief dismissed allegations of intimidation by the Police, stating that the incumbent Divisional Police Officer in Bonny, Wale Olumagba, had assured him of strict adherence to global best practice in civil issue management.
“Regarding claims that the Police is being used to push this evil, I do not think that is the case, I believe the DPO and his men only went there to ensure peace.”
“I have not met the DPO, but the first and only time I spoke with him from London, he assured me he would never allow anyone to use the police to drive civil agenda and that will not happen under his watch. So, I believe he is not being used.”
