NPF, Sister Agencies Rescue 20 Abducted Prospective Corps Members in Imo

The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State on October 1, 2026.

The victims were rescued at about 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State, following sustained and coordinated search-and-rescue operations by the security agencies.

According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu-Okonko, the rescued victims have been taken for medical examination and necessary treatment as part of the post-rescue process.

Okonko said the successful operation was achieved through sustained coordination and collaboration among the security agencies involved in the search for the abducted prospective corps members.

Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects responsible for the abduction and bring them to justice.

The Nigeria Police Force appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property and responding promptly to threats to public safety.

The Force said further updates would be communicated as necessary.
