Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme as a formidable institution for mentoring and moulding elite graduate youths.
He said the quality of training dispensed to corps members will enarmour them for efficient and effective sustainable leadership and overall development of the country.

Fubara stated this on Thursday, March 26, 2026 when he received the State Coordinator of the NYSC Rivers State, Moses Oleghe, on a courtesy visit to his office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, the State Chief Executive expressed delight with what he described as an enormous contributions of corps members across the State, especially in the area of teaching and learning, as well as rural healthcare delivery.

He assured the scheme of the continuous support of his administration in the successful execution of its programmes and activities under his watch.
“I will ensure a fruitful working relationship with the State Coordinator in order to expand the frontiers of the Scheme for the benefit of the good people of Rivers State.”
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe had informed the SSG that his visit was to familiarise with him and congratulate him on his recent appointment.
He informed Wokoma that his predecessor did exceedingly well for the NYSC by facilitating regular payment of State Government allowance to all Corps members.

He added that other areas impacted by the former SSG’s interventions include comprehensive renovation of Corps members’ hostels in camp, donation of Hilux utility vehicle to the South-South Area Office II to boost their operation.
Others include approval for the Governor to build 1,000 capacity hostel each for male and female Corps members at the camp, approval for the building of a new NYSC State Secretariat and allocation of land to build State Coordinator’s lodge.
Oleghe concluded by expressing optimism that Wokoma’s tenure of office will attract even more achievements for the Scheme.
