The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the All-Ogoni Secondary Schools Football Competition, sponsored by the apex sociocultural organisation in Ogoni, KAGOTE, has concluded the draw for teams of participating schools ahead of the maiden edition of the tournament.
The event which took place in Bori on Monday, August 24, 2026, saw a total of 55 secondary school teams from across six Ogoni kingdoms of Babe, Nyo-Khana, Ken-Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme drawn in 16 groups A to P for a chance to participate in the competition.
Group A will see CSS Wiiyaakara square up against CSS Korokoro and CCSS Nonwa/Gbam in a three teams group stage qualification interplay. Similar groups with three teams include Group C (CSS Bori, CSS Okwale, CSS Bie); Group F (CSS Luumene, CSS Eteo, CSS Lewe); and Group I (BHS Berri, CSS Agbeta Onne, CSS Bionu).
Others are Group J (CSS Lorre, CSS Ogale, CSS Deken); Group L (CSS Kabanga, CSS Kaani Babe, CSS B-Dere); Group M (CSS Sii, CSS Akpajo, CSS Yeghe); Group N (BMGS Bori, CSS Bianu, CSS Barako); and Group O (CSS Kpean, CSS Kpite, CSS Deeyor).
There are also groups with four teams to battle for a chance to qualify to the next stage of the competition. These include Group B (CSS Uegwere-Boue, CSS Taabaa, CSS Bera, CSS Notes); Group D (CSS Bionu, GSS Onne, CSS Bodo, CSS Ban-Ogoi); Group E (CSS Kaani, CSS Sogho, GSS Kpor, CSS Koroma)
Others in the quartet category are Group G (CSS Yekunu, ENC Alode, CSS Kira, CGS Sime); Group H (CSS Kaa, CHS Alessa, CSS Mogho, CSS Buako); Group K (CSS Eeken, CSS Ebubu, CSS K-Dere, CSS Kporgho) and Group P (CSS Bane, CSS Barn, CSS Nweol, CSS Borobara).
According to the Chairman of the organising committee, Christian Kpenu, during the event, the game masters of the various secondary schools have been properly orientated to serve as the official coaches of their respective school teams.
As scheduled in accordance with the results of the open balloting process the tournament will officially kick off on Sunday, October 5, 2026 at the Alessa football pitch in Eleme Local Government Area.
The same process was employed in the determination of the opening match, which happens to be the game between CSS B-Dere and CSS Kabanga, but not after the opening ceremony featuring cultural performances and other entertainment displays must have declared the tournament open.
A ₦39 million prize & award packages have been earmarked for various awards such as team awards: 1st Prize – ₦20 million; 2nd Prize – ₦10 million; and 3rd Prize – ₦5 million; and the best-performing team carting away an additional ₦1 million.
Individual Awards include Most Valuable Player, MVP (₦1 million); Highest Goal Scorer (₦1 million); and Best Goalkeeper (₦1 million).
