As the wave of political meanderings become thicker in view of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, the member representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), taking along his entire support structure.
Oko-Jumbo announced his decision on Thursday, December 11, 2025 during a Stakeholders’ Meeting held at his residence in Bonny, Rivers State.

His defection comes on the heels of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s move to the APC, a development that triggered extensive consultations among his loyalists and political associates.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to his supporters for their steadfastness, urging them to remain peaceful, focused, and united as they transition to the new political platform.

“We have taken this step today after receiving the green light. I encourage all those who have stood firmly with Governor Fubara to join us in the APC,” he stated.
He reaffirmed his commitment and that of his supporters to frontier the ideals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while contributing to national development.

The development may be part of moves to deepen the State’s alignment with the President Bola Tinubu led Federal Government towards attracting more dividends and galvanising the grassroots in favour of the ruling APC.
