Timothy Zachariah doubled the advantage 22 minutes later with a calm finish, before Bello Babatunde wrapped up the win in style with a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box in the 89th minute.

Osagie Onisodumeya admitted the goals took time to come but insisted confidence never dropped within the squad.

“That is for sure. We knew that we were going to win. We were playing, but the goal was not coming.”

“In the second half, we got the goals. We gave all the glory to God.”

The result keeps Rivers United just one point behind leaders Rangers International with two games left, setting up a tense finish to the campaign.

When asked about their chances of lifting the title, the goalkeeper remained firm in his belief.

“Yes, for sure. We have every chance to win the league. We are not giving up. We keep on pushing. That is the most important thing until the last day.”

Attention now shifts to a crucial clash against Wikki Tourists at the New Jos Stadium, a fixture that could define Rivers United’s title hopes.
