An accident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at the entrance of Osisioma Flyover, Aba, almost took the life of a pedestrian.
The incident involved a cyclist who lost control of his bike due to the slippery nature of the road after the heavy downpour, nearly got into a middle -aged woman who was trying to cross the road.
Luckily, the damage done was not much as she was taken to the hospital after other road users nearly pounced on the cyclist who refused taking responsibility for his over-speeding act when he wanted to flee the scene of the incident.
Other road users while commenting on the incident thanked God for sparing the victim’s life but also, pleaded with the government to assist in putting speed bumps on the roads.
They equally appealed to the government to emplace pedestrian bridges on busy roads in the State that would help pedestrians navigate to the other side of the roads without risking their lives.
They further cautioned motorists and cyclists who ply the Enugu-Port Hacourt Expressway to always be careful and take note of pedestrians as well as other road users to ensure safety of lives and properties.
