Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg have moved quickly in the winter transfer window, securing deals for Nigerian attackers Philip Otele and Uchenna Ogundu.

Both signings show a clear focus on pace, flexibility, and attacking depth as the Bundesliga season enters a decisive phase.
Philip Otele Boosts Hamburger SV’s Width and Firepower
Hamburger SV wrapped up a late deal by signing Otele on loan from FC Basel until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old winger, who will wear the number 27 shirt, becomes HSV’s fourth winter arrival as the club sharpens its attacking options.
HSV board member Eric Huwer said the move capped a demanding transfer period aimed at filling key roles while keeping the squad balanced.
Sporting director Claus Costa described Philip Otele as a natural wide player, praising his direct dribbling, creativity, and eye for goal.

Born in Rivers State, Otele began his career in England before gaining experience across Europe, including a productive spell in Switzerland with Basel.
His numbers proves his impact: 18 goals and eight assists in 53 matches last season, followed by 13 goal involvements in 32 appearances across all competitions this term.
Speaking after the move, Otele said he was eager to begin, pointing to the Volksparkstadion atmosphere and strong fan support as key factors behind his decision.
Ogundu Commits to Long-Term FC Augsburg Project
Elsewhere, FC Augsburg strengthened their attack with the deadline-day signing of Uchenna Ogundu from Turkish side Alanyaspor.
The 19-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract running until June 2031, highlighting Augsburg’s confidence in his development.
A product of Nigeria’s Diamond Football Academy, Ogundu moved to Turkey in August 2024 and quickly adapted.
He scored six goals in 19 appearances for Sanliurfaspor before stepping up to the Süper Lig with Alanyaspor, where he added two goals, two assists, and a Turkish Cup strike.

Known for his pace and versatility, Ogundu can operate through the middle, in attacking midfield, or on either flank.
Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber praised his movement and attacking intelligence, with the forward set to wear the number 39 shirt.
Ogundu said Augsburg offered the ideal platform to grow in one of Europe’s top leagues, adding that he is keen to settle quickly and make an impact at the WWK ARENA.
