The first chieftaincy house in the history of Bonny Kingdom, the Nwaoju Allison Chieftaincy House is set to complete the process of chief making according to Ibani customs and traditions with the presentation of its Chief and Head, Wari-Alabo Dr Daddy Ibiewotogha Dappa Allison, Nwaoju XX to the Amanyanabo-in-Council.

In line with Ibani customs and traditions, the Chiefs and Heads of Nwaoju Allison House sub-houses; Bilibilibo Jamaica Allison and Ada Allison, alongside the elders of the House will present Wari-Alabo Nwaoju XX to the Amanyanabo-in-Council on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the King Perekule Palace, Bonny.

Chief and Head, Nwaoju Allison Major Chieftaincy House, Bonny Kingdom, Wari-Alabo Dr Daddy Ibiewotogha Dappa Allison, Nwaoju XX

The Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, DSSRS, JP, Edward I, Perekule XI, presides over the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), which is the ultimate custodian of Ibani customs and tradition.

The Nwaoju Allison House was created in 1740 by the then Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Perekule I for his chief servant, Nwaoju Idaipirinye Allison, Nwaoju I, and thus preceded every other chieftaincy house. The rest of the chieftaincy houses were created thereafter.

Recall that the installation and capping ceremony of Wari-Alabo Dr Daddy Dappa Allison as Nwaoju XX took place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Nwaoju Allison House Opuwari in Bonny, Rivers State.

The event, which was attended by the various strata of the Nwaoju Allison Chieftaincy House, was oversighted by the Bonny Chiefs Council, which was represented at the event by its Vice Chairman, Se-Alabo Haniel Jack-Wilson Pepple, Se-Alabo Elliot Jim-Halliday, Se-Alabo Abel Attoni, and Se-Alabo Golden Christy-Wilcox.

Also, in attendance to see through with the process were the Chiefs and Heads of the Bilibilibo Jamaica Allison House and Ada Allison House, Se-Alabo Archibald Tamunoala Sotonye Jamaica Allison, and Se-Alabo Benjamin Ada-Allison, respectively, which are the minor houses of the larger Nwaoju Alison House.

According to Bonny Kingdom constitution, the presentation of the chief and head of a chieftaincy house to the Amanyanabo-in-Council after installation and capping by the Elders Council of his House completes the process which starts with nomination of eligible candidates.

The nomination of such candidates, which is eventually vetted by election for non-hereditary houses, and selection for hereditary houses, are done by Burusu Wariseiapu (family unit heads) for non-hereditary houses and head of the founder’s lineage family for hereditary houses.

The significance of the presentation and final lap of the chief making process is that it confers kingdom-wide recognition on the chief so presented and serves as induction into the Bonny Chiefs Council thus rendering him fit-for-purpose to assist the Amanyanabo in administering the Kingdom.

As the leadership and members of the Nwaoju Allison Chieftaincy House prepare with bated breath to revel in the sublimation of the process of making a chief for themselves by presenting him to the father of the Ibani race, their friends and well-wishers from around Nigeria and beyond also wait to join the celebration this weekend.

As per the internal governance system of the house, knowledgeable source hint Kristina Reports that a new dawn of progress and prosperity is about to unfurl, especially with the ingress of an erudite scholar, accomplished entrepreneur, seasoned technocrat; Wari-Alabo Dr Daddy Ibiewotogha Dappa Allison.

Many anticipate a novel leadership paradigm steeped in effectiveness, efficiency and effervescence, driven by passion and sustained by his love for all of family, very evidenced in his interactions with members of the House even prior to his elevation as chief and head of the Nwaoju Allison House.
