The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded a breakthrough in the investigation of a murder case with the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect, Robinson Uche, and the recovery of the deceased’s remains.

Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a press statement on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, disclosed that the suspect, Robinson Uche, a native of Umuechem in Etche Local Government Area, was arrested on Friday, March 6, 2026.

She announced that operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit, Emohua Annex, executed the arrest after sustained investigative efforts.

Iringe-Koko said the arrest is linked to the killing of Shedrack Ogadinma Chukwem, a 42-year-old indigene of Umuemeshie Community in Igbo-Etche.

During interrogation, Uche reportedly confessed to participating in the crime, which he said occurred on December 17, 2025.

He alleged that he and four others, identified simply as Prince, also known as “Onyia-Army”; Achor; Gift Okere, also known as “Nnaye”; and another unnamed accomplice were hired by one Chief Elijah Okere to bring the victim to his palace.

According to the suspect, the group attempted to apprehend the deceased at a family meeting but shot him when the attempt failed, resulting in his death.

He further told investigators that the body was taken to a bush at Ekerre-Ugbor, where it was buried in a shallow grave.

Acting on the confession, police operatives were led to the site where the remains were exhumed and subsequently deposited at the Military Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The Police Command says efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects who are still at large.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and bringing all those involved in the crime to book.

Similarly, the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, said further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
