The attention of Se-Alabo, Rev’d Clinton Dan-Jumbo Esq., Chief and Head of Dan-Jumbo House and Supervising Chief of Jumbo House, has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals who have been unlawfully seizing vehicles belonging to companies operating within the Bonny Terminal under the guise and authority of Jumbo House.
The Chief wishes to make it clear that these actions were neither authorised nor sanctioned by him or by the leadership of Jumbo House. Consequently, he calls for the immediate release of all such vehicles and directs that all unauthorised seizures cease forthwith. While the concerns of the youths are recognised and appreciated, acts capable of disrupting lawful business operations or undermining the reputation of Jumbo House cannot be condoned.
The Chief notes that he fully understands and shares the concerns of the youths and people of Jumbo House regarding several longstanding issues, including:
• Unemployment among indigenes of Jumbo House;
• Limited access to scholarship opportunities;
• Inadequate skills acquisition and development programmes; and
• Lack of access to contracts and economic opportunities for qualified members of Jumbo House within the Bonny Terminal, despite Jumbo House being one of the host and landlord communities.
He wishes to assure all members of Jumbo House that he has already commenced constructive engagements with relevant stakeholders aimed at addressing what many perceive as the marginalisation and victimisation of members of the House. He remains committed to ensuring that these concerns receive the attention they deserve and expresses confidence that meaningful progress will soon be achieved in addressing these inequalities.
Furthermore, the Chief reiterates his unwavering commitment to ensuring that Jumbo House is duly represented through the installation of a substantive Chief, in fulfilment of the promise he made to the Burukiri women on the day of his installation as Warialabo. He remains dedicated to fostering unity, justice, peace, and progress within Jumbo House and the wider Bonny Kingdom.
The Chief therefore calls on all members of Jumbo House, especially the youths, to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and patient as ongoing engagements continue toward securing lasting solutions to these challenges.
