Prosper Obah is officially a champion. The 22-year-old Nigerian forward secured the Ukrainian Premier League title with Shakhtar Donetsk following a decisive 3-1 victory over Obolon Kyiv on Wednesday.

With 69 points and a staggering 12-point lead over rivals LNZ Cherkasy, Shakhtar clinched the trophy with two games to spare in a season defined by near-total dominance.
Prosper Obah’s Path to the Ukrainian Premier League Title
While the winner’s medal is a career highlight, Obah’s journey this season was a tale of two halves.
The forward arrived at Shakhtar during the winter transfer window after an explosive start to the campaign at LNZ Cherkasy.
During his time with Cherkasy, he notably haunted his future employers, scoring and assisting in a 4-1 upset against Shakhtar.
Since moving to the Champions, however, minutes have been harder to come by. Obah featured in just nine games for Shakhtar, totalling 400 minutes of action.
Despite being left on the bench for eight matches, he managed to find the net in a crucial 2-1 win against Zorya in late April, proving his worth when called upon.
Stats and Impact: Prosper Obah’s Breakthrough Season
When looking at the full 2025/26 campaign, the numbers tell a story of a rising star. Obah finished the season with 12 goal contributions (9 goals and 3 assists), placing him 10th in the league’s scoring charts.

He sits just behind fellow countryman Peter Itodo, who netted 10 times for Metalist 1925.
Having started his European stint with a modest five goals in 32 matches at Vizela, this season represents a significant step forward.
As Shakhtar Donetsk looks toward next season, Obah will be eager to transform his super-sub status into a starting role and turn this momentum into a true breakthrough year on the European stage.
