Super Eagles hopeful Rafiu Durosinmi had a day of mixed emotions on Saturday as he created an assist that couldn’t prevent Pisa from suffering another heavy defeat in Serie A.

Durosinmi Provides Assist in Short Cameo
The forward came off the bench at the start of the second half, replacing Marius Marin, and quickly made an impact.
Just five minutes after entering, Durosinmi set up Michel Aebischer for Pisa’s lone goal.
This marked Durosinmi’s first assist for the club and his second overall contribution following his debut goal in the 1–1 draw against Atalanta.
Despite his bright performance, his compatriot Ebenezer Akinsanmiro remained on the bench throughout.
Sassuolo Dominates Despite Early Pisa Hopes
Pisa’s early optimism faded after Rosen Bozhinov’s fifth-minute goal was ruled offside.
Domenico Berardi put Sassuolo in control with a brilliant solo strike in the 25th minute, later creating an own goal from Antonio Caracciolo in stoppage time.
After halftime, Durosinmi’s assist sparked a brief revival, but Ismaël Koné quickly restored Sassuolo’s two-goal advantage.

Sassuolo maintained control until the final whistle, leaving Pisa rooted at the bottom of the table and deepening their relegation fears.
Pisa’s Struggles Continue
This defeat adds to Pisa’s woes after a 6–2 loss to Inter Milan in their previous game. Their last win came on November 7, 2025, against Cremonese, and since then, the team has gone 12 matches without victory, including seven losses and five draws.
With relegation looming, Durosinmi and his teammates will now focus on their next challenge: an away trip to face Gift Orban and Hellas Verona.
Despite the result, Durosinmi’s creativity and energy remain a key bright spot for Pisa as they fight to climb out of the relegation zone.
