Veteran Nollywood actor and content creator Ray Emodi has announced that he is stepping away from acting in films to focus on his music career and personal well‑being.
He shared the decision on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in a video that has since circulated widely across social media.

“I have stopped acting in films.”
” I quit.”
“There was a time I never thought I would say that sentence for a short period of time, but I won’t lie… I feel like I have to clear the air because I get this question a lot.”
Emodi explained that some filming environments were unsafe and contributed to his decision.
“I have put in a lot of work in Nollywood.”
“I shot a film in a town that I won’t say, but we were literally hearing gunshots.”
“There was a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting.”
He also cited family pressures and the need to protect his mental health.
“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences.”
“My family does not support this.”
“It is a family with strict rules and a reputation to protect, which is understandable, and I respect them.”
“It’s not easy to say no when they call your phone to come back on set, but I had to stop saying yes.”
Despite leaving Nollywood, Emodi stressed that he is not leaving the public eye, and that music has always been his passion.
“I love music.”
“I have always loved music.”
“I make good music.”
“I want you guys to come with me on this journey.”
” I love every single Nollywood fan, and I am not leaving you.”
“I am just going to make music.”
Emodi has already released new music projects and plans to expand his career in the music industry.
