RE: FORMAL CLARIFICATION AND UNEQUIVOCAL DENIAL OF ALLEGATIONS CONCERNING SE-ALABO REVD CLINTON DAN-JUMBO, ESQ

This letter is issued to formally address, clarify, and categorically deny a number of allegations presently being circulated by certain individuals concerning Se Alabo, Revd. Clinton Dan Jumbo, Esq., Chief and Head of the Dan Jumbo House of the Grand Bonny Kingdom.

In the interest of accuracy, transparency, and the preservation of peace and unity within the Jumbo House and the wider Bonny Kingdom, the following clarifications are hereby made:

1. Allegation of an Intention to Become Chief of Jumbo Major House or Jumbo House  

This allegation is entirely false, misleading, and without any factual or constitutional foundation.

Se-Alabo Revd. Clinton Dan Jumbo neither seeks nor has ever sought the chieftaincy of Jumbo Major House, a body which is unknown to the Bonny Constitution, the Jumbo House Constitution, and the annual calendars of the Kingdom.

Similarly, he does not seek and has never sought the chieftaincy of Jumbo House, a house recognised under the Bonny Constitution and the Jumbo House Constitution (also referred to therein as Jumbo Main House).

Se-Alabo Revd. Clinton Dan Jumbo remains wholly committed to his own traditional office as Chief and Head of the Dan Jumbo House and has consistently demonstrated respect for the independence, leadership structures, and internal affairs of all recognised houses within the Grand Bonny Kingdom.

• Allegation of an Attempt to Impose or “Plant” a Chief on Jumbo Major House or Jumbo House

This allegation is likewise categorically denied. Se Alabo Revd Clinton Dan Jumbo has no involvement in, nor interest in influencing, directing, or manipulating the leadership or succession of Jumbo Major House, a body not recognised by law.

He equally has no intention of interfering with the succession process of Jumbo House, which is a recognised house under Bonny custom and law. Matters of leadership succession remain strictly internal to each house, a principle he has consistently upheld.

However, it is important to clarify that the Jumbo House Constitution expressly mandates intervention by Se-Alabo Clinton Dan Jumbo and Chief John Jumbo, without invitation, in circumstances of crisis or tragedy affecting Jumbo House. Acting in line with this constitutional obligation, Se-Alabo Clinton Dan Jumbo applied to be joined in the ongoing legal matter in Okrika, with the objective of having the case dismissed, enabling members of Jumbo House to relocate to Burukiri and freely elect any person of their choice as Chief. This intervention is intended solely to advance peace, progress, and liberation of the House from prolonged stagnation and control by a small group acting contrary to the collective interest.

• Allegation of Interest in the Assets or Finances of Jumbo Major House or Jumbo House

This assertion is entirely untrue. Se Alabo Revd Clinton Dan Jumbo has no personal, financial, proprietary, or other interest in the assets, finances, or property of Jumbo Major House, a body unknown to law and, therefore, incapable of owning recognised assets.

With respect to Jumbo House, Se-Alabo Revd Clinton Dan Jumbo likewise has no personal interest in its assets, finances, or property. However, available evidence indicates that many Jumbo House assets are jointly owned by the Jumbo Main House, John Jumbo House, and Dan Jumbo House, and that proceeds from such assets were historically shared among these brother houses until certain individuals assumed control and excluded John Jumbo and Dan Jumbo Houses from their rightful entitlements. 

Se-Alabo Revd. Clinton Dan Jumbo remains determined to seek redress for these injustices through dialogue and due process, once a duly recognised Chief of Jumbo House emerges.

Any suggestion that his actions are motivated by financial interest is therefore baseless, malicious, and intended to misrepresent his character.

General Statement

At all material times, Se-Alabo Revd. Clinton Dan Jumbo has conducted himself with integrity, restraint, fidelity to tradition, and deep respect for communal harmony and the customs of the Grand Bonny Kingdom. The dissemination of unfounded allegations serves only to generate misunderstanding and unnecessary tension.

Accordingly, these claims should be disregarded in their entirety. Those promoting or repeating them are urged to desist and, where necessary, engage through lawful, respectful, and constructive channels.

The Chief further places on record that should individuals who have mismanaged the affairs of Jumbo House persist in attempting to malign his reputation, he shall have no hesitation in releasing documentary evidence, including signed records and details of Jumbo House funds collected by these persons, such as proceeds from the 2024 pipeline lease.

He further observes that the continued impoverishment of our youths, accounts for sale of lands, and is directly traceable to the failure of certain elders to responsibly manage House revenues and plan for the future of our youths, in contrast to best practices observed in other houses such as Brown House.

Any further attacks on his personality, integrity, or good name will therefore be addressed firmly and decisively within the bounds of law and custom.

The Chief also stated that persons who concocted the term Jumbo Major House are enemies of Jumbo House because they have given other Houses the weapon to destroy us. For instance, the day lawyers from other Houses will remember that Jumbo Major House is not in the Bonny Constitution or in Jumbo House constitution, that is the day they will return to court to demand that everything done in the name of Jumbo Major House is nullified by the Court and the Court will grant it. The so-called Jumbo Major House elders are indeed playing with fire.

This clarification is issued in good faith, with the sincere hope of preserving truth, unity, and mutual respect within the Jumbo House and the Grand Bonny Kingdom.
