Club president Kunle Soname personally presented a brand-new car to the forward to honor his incredible individual exploits in front of goal during the 2025/2026 NPFL season.

Victor Mbaoma Claims Golden Boot Amid Remo Stars Relegation

The 28-year-old marksman enjoyed a sensational individual campaign, finishing the football year as the joint-highest goalscorer in the league with 14 goals.

Unfortunately, his clinical form wasn’t enough to rescue the Ikenne-based outfit from a tragic drop in form.

Needing a vital final-day victory to escape the drop zone, the Sky Blue Stars could only muster a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance.

That stalemated result condemned the former NPFL heavyweights to a 17th-place finish with 47 points, sealing their relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the upcoming 2026/2027 season.

Expressing his mixed emotions, the Remo Stars icon admitted he was overwhelmed by the president’s generosity during such a painful period for the team.

The striker extended his deep appreciation to his family, coaches, teammates, and management for their unwavering support throughout the chaotic football year.

Can the Remo Stars Icon Drive the Club Back to NPFL?

This emotional roller coaster marks the end of the striker’s third distinct stint with the Ikenne club, having originally debuted for them back in 2016. Intriguingly, history seems to be repeating itself for the lethal forward.

Following his second spell in 2019, Mbaoma departed for Enyimba immediately after Remo Stars suffered a previous relegation.

Now tied down to a two-year contract, fans are left wondering if the veteran goal king will stay behind to steer the club right back to top-flight football, or if history will repeat itself.
