It has been noted that no ethnic nationality in Rivers State can singlehandedly make a Governor for the state, except with the support of other groups in a culturally-diverse and politically-polarised environment.
Different leaders and stakeholders in Ogoni land have added their voices in calling on Governorship aspirants from the ethnic extraction to ensure necessary and proper connections with the wider Rivers community, stressing that such ambition remains a test of popularity across all ethnic groups within the state.

On this backdrop, the Rivers State 2027 Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gabriel Pidomson, has paid an official visit to the Amayanabo of Torusarama Piri, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, as part of his planned strategic consultation with stakeholders in all nooks and crannies of Rivers State.
Pidomson made the courtesy visit on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Palace of the ‘Elem-Kalabari’ in Harry’s Town, Obuama in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, according to a post he shared on social media shortly after the meeting.

As preperations for the main campaign events are about to begin in the coming weeks, the ADC Candidate has deemed necessary the need to navigate the state and co-opt other important political stakeholders outside his immediate ethnic enclave.
“During the visit, I formally informed him of my intention and officially announced my candidature for the position of Governor of Rivers State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.”
He further disclosed that the meeting with the Kalabari Monarch granted him the opportunity to discuss and unveil his agenda for a better and more prosperous Rivers State, where all tribes, ethnic nationalities, as well as residents can thrive.
“The meeting provided an opportunity to seek his blessings, counsel, and support as we continue the journey toward building a better and more prosperous Rivers State for all.”
