Rivers Angels lit up the President Federation Cup on Monday afternoon with a commanding 12–0 win over NAF Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
While Rivers United supporters were left heartbroken after missing out on the league title, the women’s team brought pride back to Port Harcourt with a display full of power, precision, and hunger.
Rivers Angels Dominate From Start to Finish
The ten-time FA Cup champions showed no signs of slowing down in their Round of 32 clash.
Grace Saliu opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and that early breakthrough set the tone for a ruthless performance.
Shortly after, Abasiofon Uwah doubled the lead, before Saliu struck again from a rebound to complete her brace.
Patience Otubo added another before halftime as the defending champions cruised into the break with a 4–0 lead.
The second half brought even more fireworks. Ramotalahi Kareem made it 5–0, followed by another composed finish from Tejiri Edward.
Triple substitutions introduced fresh firepower, and Rivers Angels took full advantage as Zainab Oduga, Chisom Nwachukwu, and Peace Effiong joined the scoring spree.
A Clear Message From the Champions
Effiong, returning from a long injury spell, stole the spotlight with an incredible four-goal haul—including a blistering hat-trick after coming off the bench.
By the 86th minute, the scoreline had turned into a historic 12–0 demolition.
This emphatic victory not only sends Rivers Angels into the next round but also proves why they are one of Nigeria’s most dominant women’s football teams.
With their confidence soaring and key players finding form, the Jewels of Rivers look ready to chase yet another title.
