The Rivers State Government has strengthened the operations of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) South-South Area Office II with the donation of a brand-new Hilux vehicle to enhance mobility and service delivery.

The vehicle, a gift from Governor Siminalayi Fubara, was officially handed over by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, who represented the governor at the presentation ceremony in Port Harcourt.

Presenting the keys to the Acting Director of the South-South Area Office II, Philip Enaberue, Dr. Anabraba praised the NYSC scheme for its contributions to the social and economic development of Rivers State.

He noted that the scheme occupies a strategic position in the state’s development agenda and continues to enjoy the full support of the Fubara administration.

According to him, the state government remains satisfied with the performance and impact of corps members across communities, which has motivated continued government intervention in areas affecting the welfare and operations of the scheme.

He highlighted several ongoing supports, including regular payment of state allowances to corps members, renovation of orientation camp facilities, and plans to construct two new hostels capable of accommodating about 1,000 corps members each.

Dr. Anabraba also mentioned the donation of office accommodation to the South-South Area Office, allocation of land for the construction of a befitting State Coordinator’s lodge, and plans for a new NYSC state secretariat complex among other interventions.

The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Sam Dede, while the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, joined the Acting Director, Enaberue, in receiving the vehicle on behalf of the scheme.
