The Rivers State Government has scheduled a statewide Graduate Job Fair for January 22, 2026, as part of a broader tactical push to bridge the unemployment gap and stimulate the state’s economy.
Commissioner for Employment and Empowerment Generation, Dr. Chisom Gbali, disclosed the plans during a press briefing in Port Harcourt.

He stated that the initiative, funded by the Governor Siminalayi Fubara administration, will offer immediate employment, internships, and vocational training to qualified graduates.
Dr Gbali said to facilitate the programme, the state government has entered a formal partnership with the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).
This collaboration provides participants access to a network of over 85 major companies across the federation.
Dr. Gbali noted that the Ministry is utilising the Quadruple Helix Model to ensure the programme’s sustainability.
This framework fosters a multi-level collaboration between: the state government, the private sector, academic Institutions and civil society
Parallel to the recruitment drive, he explained that the Ministry is launching a series of capacity-building initiatives.
These programmes are focused on high-demand sectors, including: energy: Oil and gas, and the blue economy, maritime: Shipping and marine operations including artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
“We are equipping our people with skills that align with global economic trends,” Dr. Gbali said, adding that registration is currently open to the public on the Ministry’s portal, www.megee.rv.gov.ng.
Commenting on the nation’s fiscal state, the Commissioner asserted that Nigeria’s economy is entering a stabilization phase.
