Rivers Schools Board Warns Principals Against Illegal Admission Fees

The Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board, (RSSSSB) has warned principals of public Senior Secondary Schools in the state against admitting students or collecting money for admission during the ongoing school holidays.

The warning was contained in a directive dated August 17, 2026, and signed by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Ndanyeozunu Anthony-Egwurugwu.

According to the Board, it had received reports that some principals were admitting students into public senior secondary schools and collecting money from parents, guardians and prospective students in connection with admission. The Board described the practice as strictly prohibited and directed all affected principals to stop such activities immediately.

It stressed that admission into public senior secondary schools under the Board must be conducted strictly in accordance with approved guidelines and directives of the RSSSSB.
The Board further clarified that no principal has the authority to impose personal charges or solicit payments from parents or students for admission.

The principals were also directed to refund any money already collected specifically for admission during the current school holidays.
The Board warned that any principal found violating the directive would face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the service.

The directive was addressed to all principals of public senior secondary schools under the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board.
