In a bold move to improve transparency, accountability, and student performance monitoring, Rivers State University (RSU) has launched an innovative online feature called SponsorsLink
The Student-Sponsor Account initiative is introduced to tackle challenges such as students collecting school fees but failing to make payments, individuals leaving school while pretending to still be enrolled, and the general inability of parents, guardians, and sponsors to track the academic progress of their wards.
With SponsorsLink, parents and sponsors can now access the RSU e-Campus portal to monitor fee payments, academic records, and other key information about their children or beneficiaries.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, the system is designed to bridge the communication and accountability gap between students and their sponsors, it gives sponsors real-time access to academic progress and financial transactions related to their wards.
The innovation comes just three months after the appointment of the university’s Vice Chancellor, whose vision for reform was announced immediately after his appointment on March 6, 2025.
His appointment was confirmed in a statement by the Secretary to the suspended State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and is for a single, non-renewable five-year tenure.
In his inaugural address, the Vice Chancellor outlined several reform-focused goals to reposition RSU as a centre of academic excellence and integrity.
True to his word, his administration has swiftly begun rolling out initiatives, with SponsorsLink being a key step in the direction of a more accountable and digitally driven campus.
A demonstration video showcasing how the SponsorsLink platform works has also been released to sensitize the public and guide users on navigating the system. The Rivers State University continues to position itself as a forward-thinking institution, embracing digital solutions that align with global standards in higher education management.
