Rivers State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rivers State, Amairigha Hart, has vowed to inspire improved performance and transform the ministry into a trailblazing hub.

This is just as he charged staff to take up initiatives and work collaboratively towards achieving the vision of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In an address during his maiden interactive meeting with staff of the Ministry on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in Port Harcourt, Commissioner Hart expressed gratitude to God, Governor Fubara, and the Rivers State House of Assembly for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging the Permanent Secretary and directors for their support.

“There is no assignment that is too difficult for anyone, provided determination is in place,” he said, emphasizing the need for passion, commitment, and sacrifice.

Hart outlined his priorities, citing the need to address encroachment on major roads, indiscriminate roadside activities, and structures, vowing to restore Port Harcourt’s serene status.

He drew inspiration from the Governor’s charge to make Rivers State “beautiful, sane, and physically upright.”

The Commissioner had earlier taken a tour of Port Harcourt, identifying grey areas and challenges that will form the nucleus of his work. He pledged staff comfort and solicited their best contribution, assuring that success and progress were the ultimate goals.

Permanent Secretary, Soibitein Harry, a Town Planner (TPL), welcomed the Commissioner, highlighting the meeting’s purpose: “to foster interaction, renew commitment, and address challenges.”

She assured Hart of staff support, citing their eagerness to partner in achieving the Governor’s vision.

The meeting featured prayers, Questions and Answer session, and the release of welfare packs and holiday cash support to all staff in attendance, sparking jubilation.

With sleeves rolled up, Commissioner Hart appears unstoppable in his transformative journey, driven by determination and a passion for excellence, in pursuance of the developmental vision of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Recall that Hart, who resumed duty on Friday, March 13, 2026, had met with the Permanent Secretary and directors and took a tour of the ministry to ascertain the state of affairs.

Today’s meeting with the overall workforce of the ministry signals a move to entrench the vision of Governor Fubara in the Ministry, feel the pulse of workers, and ensure a unanimous appoach to issues before launching out in the best interest of the state.
