RSU VC Honoured with Man of the Year, Academic Don of the Year Awards

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU), Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has been honoured with the “Man of the Year” and “Academic Don of the Year” awards at the 2025 South-South Media and Entertainment Awards.
Professor Zeb-Obipi, widely referred to as the people’s Vice-Chancellor of the state’s premier university, received the honours in recognition of his leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to the development of the institution.

The ceremony which took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at was attended by the Rivers State University management team, top government officials, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries from across the South-South region.
Media stakeholders and leaders from the creative industry were also present.
Members of the university community, including staff and students, turned out in large numbers to celebrate the Vice-Chancellor’s achievement.

Youth groups and student bodies described the awards as a reflection of his inclusive and people-focused leadership style.
Organisers of the South-South Media and Entertainment Awards said the selection was based on impact, professionalism, and contribution to society. They noted that Professor Zeb-Obipi emerged as a standout nominee in the academic category.

The recognition further highlights Professor Zeb-Obipi’s growing influence in higher education and reinforces Rivers State University’s role in advancing learning, leadership, and development in the South-South region.
