A joint security operation involving the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bonny, Rivers State has led to the arrest of six suspected drug dealers.
An NDLEA Special Crack Team from Port Harcourt, alongside their counterparts in Bonny, were supported by operatives of the NSCDC in the operation, which took place around 7:00pm on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The squad targeted the Amaomu Junction area, a location said to be heavily populated by Northerners and other non-indigenes, and long suspected to serve as a hub for illicit drug activities.
Some knowledgeable residents of the area who witnessed the operation identified some of the arrested suspects as ThankGod, said to hail from Oron in Akwa Ibom State, Musa, from Kano State, and Adamu, from Plateau State, and Yusuf, from Jigawa State, Genesis, from Rivers State, as Shamsudeen, popularly known as “Biggie,” from Plateau State.
Checks by Kristina Reports show that some of the drugs caught with the suspects during the raid include cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis sativa, cannabis, and some psychotropic substances.
Sources within the community claimed that some of the suspects are known figures in drug distribution activities around Amaomu Junction, an area said to host a mix of residents including members of the Northern community.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Kristina Reports, confirmed that security operatives stormed the area and carried out coordinated searches, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of suspected narcotics.
However, efforts by Kristina Reports to obtain an official confirmation and further details from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were unsuccessful, as the Area Commander of NDLEA Bonny was reportedly unavailable for comments at the time of filing this report.
Investigations are expected to continue as authorities work to dismantle suspected drug networks operating within the area, especially, the raided area popularly known as G Unit.
Some of the concerned residents of the area complained of apparent indifference by various stakeholders in Bonny as to the pervasive debilitating impact of drug peddling, abuse and addiction across the LGA.
On of them, who only identified himself as Iboroma, said “how can everyone be quiet about this menace? Young people are being destroyed in our very before. Somehow, the other lady, the former Chairman made some interventions that rescued some of the youths but this one is not even saying anything”.
“The current local government administration appears indifferent and doing nothing about the situation. Imagine a whole neighbourhood reeling under the weight of drug wahala. Who does not know what G Unit has become? Will all of them in the government say they don’t know or are they part of it, somehow?”
A leader among the Northern community, who preferred anonymity, lamented over what the area has turned into, expressing deep worry over the inaction of the authorities in Bonny, calling on the local government, the King and chiefs of Bonny Kingdom, and other stakeholders to act fast to stem the tide.
“Our brother, the (NDLEA) Area Commander appears to be struggling alone to curb this menace. Nobody seems to listening to him or supporting his work and yet he is not an indigene of this place. He needs help to succeed with this. These people are growing in boldness in what they do”, he said.
Kristina Reports investigations indicate that certain areas in Bonny have over time transformed into drug dens including G Unit, as well as Desert Forest, behind Post Office complex by Cable Road, and back of Kambasa Hall.
Others include the area around the Banigo Memorial Hall in Banigo Compound, area by Arthur Pepple house, old waterside market by Dappa Posie, certain areas in Iwoama, waterfront axis of Orosikiri, especially, close to L’Amour Beach, and Workers Camp.
