Nigerian musician Ajayi Solomon, professionally known as Specdo, has released his new single, “DaBoy,” turning personal struggles, disappointments and setbacks into a message of perseverance.
The single was released on Friday, September 18, 2026, under TMY Empire, with Zentharon Worldwide handling distribution.

“DaBoy” marks Specdo’s return to active music releases after a period away from regularly releasing new material, with the singer positioning the record as the beginning of a new phase in his career.
The song draws directly from experiences Specdo described as painful and difficult, including disappointments, temporary failures and personal and professional setbacks that tested his determination.
Explaining the inspiration behind the record ahead of its release, Specdo said, “DaBoy tells a real story about my journey the pain, the disappointments, the temporary failures and the strength it took to continue.”
He said the record was created from an honest examination of his experiences rather than an attempt to follow a passing musical trend.
According to Specdo, the song also carries a message for listeners dealing with difficult periods of their own, allowing them to interpret his experiences through their individual circumstances.
He further described the record as more than a conventional release, saying, “DaBoy is more than a song, it is a chapter of my life.”
Specdo said he poured his experiences into the record so that people going through difficult seasons could recognise that they were not alone.
The creative direction for “DaBoy” reportedly emerged during a late-night studio session when Specdo struggled to settle on an idea before turning inward and allowing memories from his personal experiences to guide the writing.
He acknowledged the contribution of his producer, brother, friends and other members of his team in helping transform his emotions and experiences into the finished record.
Specdo has described his approach to music as the pursuit of what he calls “infinity song” music, referring to records intended to retain their emotional relevance and continue connecting with listeners beyond their initial release.
The singer also used the release to recognise supporters who continued believing in his music during his period away from regular releases.
“I appreciate everyone who stayed with me and continued to believe in my journey,” he said.
Specdo added that his return comes with a responsibility to become more consistent and produce music that connects genuinely with listeners.
“My responsibility now is to remain consistent and create quality music that people can genuinely feel,” he said.
He said his intention extends beyond the instrumental and commercial aspects of the record, stressing the human experience behind its lyrics.
“Beyond the beat, I want people to feel the passion and the human story behind every lyric,” Specdo said.
The release forms part of a wider comeback campaign announced ahead of the single, with Specdo’s return described as the beginning of a new musical chapter.
Plans announced before the release include a full-length album targeted for November 2026, although a specific release date and complete tracklist for that project had not been established in the verified information available for publication.
“DaBoy” therefore serves as both a standalone single and an introduction to the direction of Specdo’s next phase, reconnecting him with existing supporters while opening his music to a wider audience.
For Specdo, the record transforms a period marked by setbacks into a musical account of persistence, with its central message built around continuing the journey despite disappointment.
“DaBoy” is now available on major digital streaming platforms, marking the latest step in Specdo’s return to active music and the opening of what he has positioned as a new chapter of his career.
