Nigerian forward Stanley Iheanacho enjoyed a dream return to FC Midtjylland, coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in a 1-0 pre-season victory over Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK at Teglpark Stadion.
The 21-year-old wasted little time making his mark after rejoining the Danish Superliga side, producing a match-winning display to help his team continue preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 season on a positive note.
Stanley Iheanacho Makes Instant Impact After Midtjylland Return
After a tightly contested first half ended without a goal, Midtjylland introduced fresh legs in search of a breakthrough. Iheanacho answered the call in the 77th minute, calmly finishing past the goalkeeper to break the deadlock and seal victory for the Danish outfit.
His goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, handing Midtjylland valuable momentum ahead of the new campaign.
The impressive performance comes shortly after Iheanacho completed his return from Portuguese club CD Mafra, signing a long-term contract that will keep him at MCH Arena until December 2030.
Arierhi Features for Lillestrøm as Midtjylland Look Ahead
While Iheanacho stole the spotlight, fellow Nigerian forward Kparobo Arierhi was also involved in the encounter.
The youngster was introduced for Lillestrøm in the 60th minute but was unable to help the Norwegian side find an equaliser.
With the friendly victory secured, Midtjylland will now turn their attention to another stern pre-season test against Malmö FF on Friday as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign continue.
