Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has opened up on Nigeria’s mindset ahead of their high-stakes Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 semi-final against hosts Morocco.

The clash in Rabat is expected to test the Super Eagles both mentally and tactically, with a loud home crowd backing one of the tournament favourites.

Nigeria will face the Atlas Lions of Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where thousands of home fans are expected to generate a highly charged atmosphere.
Awaziem admitted that the Super Eagles are fully aware of what awaits them in the stands.
“I mean, we all know that Morocco is the host team, so we know they’re going to have massive supporters in the stadium,” he said.
The Nantes defender stressed that experience and discipline will be key as Nigeria look to shut out the noise and stay focused on the task ahead in this crucial AFCON 2025 fixture.

According to Awaziem, Nigeria’s approach is simple: remain calm, trust their preparation, and let their football do the talking. The Super Eagles are determined not to be distracted by external pressure.
“We just want to turn their fears to the fans and be focused on the pitch, focus on ourselves, and try to get the job done,” Awaziem added.
Morocco arrive at the semi-final unbeaten and buoyed by strong home support, but the Super Eagles have been equally impressive.
Nigeria have combined attacking quality with defensive solidity, recording five wins, scoring 14 goals, and conceding just four on their road to the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.
