The Super Eagles of Nigeria are champions of the Unity Cup once again after securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final of the 2026 edition on Saturday, May 30.

Super Eagles win Unity Cup 2026

A brace from Alhassan Yusuf and a well-taken header from Terem Moffi sealed an emphatic win for Nigeria, who lifted the trophy for a fourth time and successfully defended the title they won in 2025.

Super Eagles Dominate Jamaica to Retain Unity Cup 2026 Crown

Nigeria faced Jamaica in a repeat of last year’s final after the Reggae Boyz defeated India 2-0 to book their place in the championship match.

The Super Eagles had secured their own place in the final on Tuesday with a convincing 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe, courtesy of a brace from Femi Azeez. The result set up another Unity Cup final showdown between Nigeria and Jamaica.

It was a familiar fixture, as both nations also contested the 2025 final, which Nigeria won via a penalty shootout.

However, Jamaica’s hopes of revenge were dashed as the Super Eagles produced a commanding performance at the Valley Stadium in London.

Nigeria made a dream start to the game when Alhassan Yusuf opened the scoring after just three minutes.

A poorly cleared throw-in fell kindly to the New England Revolution midfielder, who was left unmarked at the far post and fired a first-time volley into the net to give Nigeria an early lead.

The Super Eagles controlled possession and dictated the tempo throughout the first half, taking their slim advantage into the break.

Nigeria doubled their lead just before the hour mark through Terem Moffi. Femi Azeez provided a superb delivery for the FC Porto forward, who rose highest to head home and put the Eagles firmly in control.

The victory was sealed deep into stoppage time when Alhassan Yusuf grabbed his second goal of the evening.

Philip Otele led a swift counterattack before laying a perfectly weighted pass into Yusuf’s path. The midfielder then curled a brilliant effort into the net to make it 3-0 and complete a memorable night for Nigeria.

The result secured Nigeria’s fourth Unity Cup title and further proves the Super Eagles’ dominance in the competition.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe bounced back from their semi-final defeat to Nigeria to claim third place with a 1-0 victory over India.

The Warriors secured the win thanks to Prince Dube, who calmly converted a penalty in the 35th minute to ensure Zimbabwe ended their campaign on a positive note.
