Tekno Thrills London Crowd at Nigeria’s Independence Concert

Nigerian singer Tekno thrilled music lovers in London on Sunday, October 4, 2026, with a full-band performance at Village Underground as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

The concert, held during Nigeria’s Independence weekend, brought the singer before a London audience for an evening of established hits and newer material.

The show was staged at Village Underground, located at 54 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch, London, and was scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. local time.

The venue described the event as “Tekno Live in London | Full Live Band | Nigerian Independence Weekend”, presenting it as a one-night headline concert celebrating Nigeria’s 66th year of Independence.

Tekno performed with a full live band, moving through songs from his catalogue while also introducing the London audience to newer material from his recent musical releases.

Among the established songs featured during the performance were “Pana” and “Duro”, two records associated with the singer’s earlier career and widely recognised within his catalogue.

The concert also came after the release of Tekno’s eight-track album, Where Did Love Go?, which arrived in July 2026.

His latest single at the time of the London performance was “Atlanta,” which was also part of the newer chapter of his catalogue highlighted around the concert.

The London show was sponsored by emPawa Africa and hosted by Mr A Star, according to reports on the performance.

The performance was presented as part of the wider celebrations surrounding Nigeria’s Independence anniversary, which fell on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The venue’s official listing described the concert as an opportunity to celebrate the “66th year of Nigerian Independence” through a live performance by Tekno.

The singer’s appearance also brought together elements of Nigerian music and culture for audiences in London, a major international centre for Afrobeats and African entertainment.

During the show, concertgoers sang along to familiar songs as Tekno moved between his established records and newer releases, creating a performance built around both nostalgia and his current sound.

The concert’s full-band format also distinguished the performance from a standard club appearance, with the official venue listing specifically promoting Tekno’s live-band presentation.

The event was restricted to people aged 16 and above, with the venue requiring under-18 attendees to be accompanied by a responsible adult at a one-to-one ratio.

Tickets were listed by the venue from £41.20, with the event held at the 450-capacity Village Underground venue in Shoreditch.

Tekno closed the concert to an enthusiastic London audience, combining songs that helped establish his reputation with material reflecting the latest stage of his music career.

The October 4 performance therefore formed part of Nigeria’s 66th Independence celebrations outside the country, using music to connect Nigerian culture and entertainment with audiences in London.

With the concert coming shortly after the release of Where Did Love Go? and “Atlanta,” the performance also gave Tekno an opportunity to place his newer material alongside some of the songs that have defined his career.
