Staff of Emohua Local Government Council on Monday, March 16, 2026 gathered at the Rivers State Government House to protest the alleged non-payment of seven months’ salaries.
Speaking during the protest, the workers accused the Council Chairman, Dr Chidi Lloyd, of failing to pay their salaries despite completing the required verification process.

They said the prolonged delay in payment has caused them severe hardship.
The protesters called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly to intervene in the matter.

Reacting to the allegations, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr Chidi Lloyd, told our correspondent that the council does not owe any verified or legitimate staff salaries.

Dr Lloyd urged the protesters to obtain the report of the staff verification exercise ordered by the governor to confirm whether they are genuine employees of the council.
