Nigerian security forces in concert with the agents of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have arrested three suspects in connection with the ambush and killing of staff of the US Consulate in Anambra State.
Two staff of the United States Consulate were abducted while four persons, two Consulate staff and two police officers were killed, when the convoy they were traveling in was attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.



The convoy was said to have been ambushed along the Atani-Osamale Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State on the evening of Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
Kristina Reports learnt that the operation, which led to the apprehension of the suspects took place on Monday, May 22, 2023, and was led by the FBI agents who were said arrived advanced surveillance gadgets.
Our sources say the suspects are currently being held at an undisclosed security facility in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
A top security source, who preferred not to be named, told Kristina Reports that the US federal agents were flown into Nigeria for the operation as a fallout of highly level talks between Nigerian security top brass and officials of the US Department of State.

Upon arrival in the country, our sources say the US federal agents and their handlers at the US embassy, Abuja held behind close door meetings with senior security officials before proceeding to Anambra State for the operation.
Recall that after the incident, the State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo had pledged to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book, calling on the people of Anambra State to come forward with useful information that would help in the investigation.
“We call on anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the criminals to offer same on our secured security phone numbers or to any of the security agencies and such informant will be handsomely rewarded. Investigations are underway.

“We assure our residents and visitors of our continued commitment to law and order. If anything, this incident has emboldened our drive,” the statement read in parts.”
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command had announced that it had rescued the two remaining abductees in the incident while it continues to chase the suspected perpetrators of the incident.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said “the joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy along Atani/Osamale Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State. Operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated”.
