Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign council, saying she is staying out of politics.
Abraham made the clarification on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after her name appeared in a published structure of the Lagos APC campaign council.
The document listed Abraham as a member of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, Abraham said she had not agreed to participate in the campaign structure and urged the public to disregard the reported inclusion of her name.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently.”
“I am staying out of politics.”
“Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
The clarification came after the Lagos APC campaign structure was unveiled on Thursday, with Abraham’s name appearing alongside several entertainers under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The directorate was structured with Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
The published directorate contained 33 names, including actors, musicians and other personalities from the entertainment sector.
Abraham’s rejection means her appearance on the published list does not represent her stated acceptance of the reported campaign role.
The actress subsequently provided further clarification on Friday, September 18, after a social-media user suggested that her decision could prevent online critics from attacking her.
Abraham said her decision was not prompted by online criticism but was based on her position that she did not want to participate in politics.
“Bro, I didn’t do it because of any bully.”
“I did it because it was the right thing to do,” she said.
She explained that she discovered her name on the campaign document without prior knowledge of the reported inclusion.
“I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about,” Abraham added.
She then reiterated her position on political involvement, saying, “Moreover, I’ve already said it, I’m not interested in politics.”
The development comes three years after Abraham publicly supported Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, a decision that attracted significant public criticism and social-media reactions.
In 2024, Abraham also said she would no longer publicly disclose her political affiliation following the backlash that followed her 2023 political position.
Despite Abraham’s rejection, her name remained on the published 33-member Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate document reviewed in reports on Friday.
The reported campaign council was scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Abraham’s latest comments therefore clarify that while her name appeared on the published Lagos APC campaign structure, she does not consider herself a member of the campaign council and has publicly stated that she is staying out of politics.
Her position places the focus on the distinction between her reported inclusion in the document and her own stated decision not to participate in the political campaign structure.
