Nigeria’s U-20 team will face six-time champions Argentina in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup in Chile on Wednesday October 8, 2025.
The Flying Eagles booked their spot after a 1-1 draw with Colombia, captain Daniel Bameyi’s late penalty secured the crucial point that sealed qualification as one of the best third-placed teams.

With five points, Colombia topped the group ahead of Norway, who also finished on five points after drawing 1-1 with Saudi Arabia.
The Argentines were ruthless in Group D, amassing nine points after wins over Cuba (3-1), Australia (4-1), and Italy (1-0).
History is on Nigeria’s side, the last time both sides met at this stage, the Flying Eagles stunned Argentina 2-0. Can lightning strike twice?
