Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen continues to be the driving force behind Galatasaray’s dream European run.

The Nigerian striker played a key role on Tuesday night as the Turkish giants secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Liverpool FC at RAMS Park.
Victor Osimhen Believes Galatasaray Can Hurt Liverpool at Anfield
In a high-stakes Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash, Osimhen’s influence was felt long before the final whistle, both emotionally and tactically.
The atmosphere was exciting even before kickoff. Fans unveiled a massive tifo dedicated to the striker and his family, a gesture that clearly moved the 27-year-old forward.
Reflecting on the bond he has formed in Istanbul, Osimhen shared his gratitude after the match.
“I’ve been very happy since I arrived wearing this jersey. This jersey is very special. I wanted to do my best for these fans. I’m experiencing completely different emotions here. I lost my mother at a young age, and the fans made me very happy today.
That’s why it’s so important to me. We are a family with the Galatasaray fans.”
The confidence in his words mirrors his form on the pitch. Although he didn’t find the back of the net himself this time, his headed assist for Mario Lemina in the seventh minute proved to be the decider.
This follows his heroics from September 2025, where he scored a penalty to defeat the Reds by the same score line.
Champions League Dominance for the Nigerian Star
With seven goals in nine appearances, he has become the focal point of the Galatasaray attack.

The match itself was a frantic affair. Liverpool had chances through Florian Wirtz and Alexis Mac Allister, while Ibrahima Konaté had a goal ruled out for handball.
Galatasaray also saw an Osimhen-led effort disallowed for offside. Despite the pressure from the English Premier League side, the “Lions” held firm.
With a one-goal cushion, Osimhen and his teammates now head to Anfield looking to complete a historic upset.
“We did a very good job today. I think we can hurt Liverpool in the return match. We’ve done a good job so far,” Osimhen said.
