On Friday evening, Victor Osimhen delivered when it mattered most once again — and this time, he helped Galatasaray turn their opening-day frustration into a statement victory.
The Super Eagles striker pulled off yet another sensational performance, scoring twice and providing an assist as the Turkish champions demolished Erzurumspor FK 4-0 at the Kazım Karabekir Stadyumu.
His latest brilliance means Osimhen has now scored four goals and registered one assist in his first two Turkish Super Lig appearances this season.
After being held to a 2-2 draw by Çorum FK in their opening fixture, Aslanlar came into this one knowing they needed a response, and they got exactly that.
The Yellow-Reds started aggressively and needed only 12 minutes to break the deadlock.
A poorly cleared corner dropped kindly for Roland Sallai, who made no mistake with his first-time finish.
Eight minutes later, Osimhen was at the heart of the second goal. Yunus Akgün won possession after Erzurumspor failed to deal with a throw-in and immediately spotted the Nigerian making a run.
Akgün found Osimhen running towards the box, and the striker returned the favor to set up Akgün for 2-0.
Just before half-time, the 27-year-old punished another defensive mistake. A poor back pass left the goalkeeper exposed, and the former Napoli hitman reacted quickest to intercept before calmly finishing into an empty net to make it 3-0.
With 80 minutes played, Gabriel Sara delivered a dangerous cross into the area and Osimhen reacted brilliantly between defenders to fire home his second of the night, sealing another man-of-the-match display.
Osimhen’s exciting start isn’t just winning matches — it is cementing his name into European football record book with three staggering achievements:
3rd Highest-Scoring Foreign Player in Club History: With 62 goals and 16 assists in 76 matches, Osimhen surpassed Milan Baroš (61 goals in 116 matches) to sit behind only Mauro Icardi (77 goals in 134 matches) and Gheorghe Hagi (72 goals in 192 matches).
Historic 2-Match Flying Start: According to OptaCan data, Osimhen became the first player wearing the Galatasaray shirt to score 4+ goals in the opening two matches of a Süper Lig season since Mario Jardel in 2000/01.
14 Consecutive Goal Contributions: Osimhen has now directly contributed to a goal in 14 straight Süper Lig appearances for CIMBOM, registering 14 goals and 6 assists in that streak.
