Viktoria Plzeň have completed the signing of Super Eagles forward Salim Lawal, securing the Nigerian attacker after a standout season in Croatia.

The 23-year-old joins the Czech First League side from NK Istra 1961, bringing proven goalscoring form and international experience to the club’s attack.
Lawal Joins Viktoria Plzeň After Breakout Season
Salim Lawal arrives in Plzeň after scoring 15 goals and providing two assists for NK Istra 1961.
His pace, movement, and ability to play across the front line made him one of the most effective attackers in the Croatian league last season.
The Nigerian striker has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 70 shirt.
While the club did not confirm the transfer fee, sources indicate a deal worth €2.4 million, with add-ons that could raise the total to €3 million.
A sell-on clause is also included, ensuring NK Istra benefit from any future move.
Plzeň moved quickly to strengthen their squad following the departure of Rafiu Durosinmi to Serie A side Pisa.
Sporting director Martin Vozábal acknowledged that the arrival of Lawal adds depth and competition in attack, noting his versatility as both a central striker and wide forward.
Super Eagles Forward Set for Immediate Impact
Lawal is expected to be available right away, having returned from international duty.

He recently featured for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished third, and also played in preparatory matches ahead of the tournament.
“I see this as a step forward in my career,” Lawal said via the club’s official website. “Viktoria Plzeň’s performances in Europe really attracted me, and I want to help the team achieve more success.”
Lawal’s rise has been steady. He first gained global attention at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup with the Flying Eagles before earning a place in the senior Super Eagles squad.
