Waje, Shoday Celebrate Motherhood With ‘My Sunshine’ From The Four

Nigerian singers Waje and Shoday have released “My Sunshine”, an original soundtrack from the upcoming film The Four: No One Fights Alone, using the song to celebrate the enduring bond between a mother and her child.

The song became available on streaming platforms on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while its official music video was also released through FAAN_TV on YouTube ahead of the film’s cinema opening on Friday, December 11, 2026.

“My Sunshine” reflects the relationship between Esosa, played by Waje, and her son Obaloluwa, played by Shoday, whose bond forms an important part of the film’s emotional storyline.

The collaboration brings their on-screen mother-and-son relationship into the music, with the song focusing on love, sacrifice, tenderness and a mother’s determination to stand by her child.

The song opens with a declaration of affection as the singers describe the person they love as their “sunshine” and “melody”, reinforcing the emotional connection at the centre of the track.

The lyrics include the refrain, “You are my sunshine”, followed by expressions of daily love and affection, before moving into Yoruba lines that further strengthen the song’s intimate mother-and-child message.

The soundtrack arrives as The Four builds anticipation for its December cinema release, with motherhood and the strength of women positioned at the heart of the story.

Set between Odu community and Lagos, the film follows Esosa and three loyal women as they fight to secure the future of a young man they love, placing their courage, faith, friendship and loyalty under pressure.

The film’s central message is captured in its subtitle, “No One Fights Alone,” which also reinforces the significance of the relationship portrayed through “My Sunshine”.

Waje brings her soulful vocal style to the duet, while Shoday contributes an Afrobeats sound, creating a collaboration that mirrors the different emotional dimensions of their characters in the film.

“My Sunshine” follows “Ore Mi”, another song from The Four soundtrack, and expands the musical promotion of the film ahead of its December release.

The film is a Funke Akindele Network production and is scheduled to open in cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, December 11, 2026.

With “My Sunshine”, Waje and Shoday have given audiences an early musical window into the emotional world of The Four, turning the story of a mother’s love and sacrifice into a soundtrack ahead of the film’s arrival in cinemas.
