The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has debunked claims that it abandoned the family of one of the casualties in a recent accident in its plant site in Bonny, Rivers State.

This disclaimer was contained in a response to Kristina Reports enquiry signed by NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

The company said the contractor with which the deceased was working during his lifetime was already in contact with his family, just as it (NLNG) was cooperating with relevant authorities to resolve issues surrounding the incident, which it described as “unfortunate”.

A team of lawyers from a law firm, Deeds Chambers, had accused the gas firm of abandoning the family of one of the two casualties, late Emmanuel Dan-Jumbo, and was shifting responsibility to a third party, which is one of its contractors (name withheld).

“NLNG is aware that following the recent unfortunate incident at its plant site, the responsible contractor company, as the employer of the involved persons, has met with the families affected and remains in communication with them.

The Company is following up with the contractor company to ensure that all feasible support is made available to the families of the deceased workers.

NLNG also confirms that it is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to complete the ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident in a timely manner.”

So far, neither the Police or the government has made a statement on the issue.
