As the uproar grows over the absence of free school busses on the road, the immediate past Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Anengi Claude-Wilcox has queried the whereabouts of the busses.

In a statement on Friday, January 30, 2026, she raised concern over the neglect of school children who were relieved of the burden of transport fares through the Free Bus Scheme initiated by her administration.

She lamented that the children of Bonny LGA have been left to bear the brunt of trekking to school, a situation which was ameliorated by the free school bus scheme during her time in office as Chairman.

According to her, the idea behind establishing the Bonny Free School Bus program was to provide transportation assistance to underprivileged families in Bonny who struggle to afford daily transport fares for their children.

“These buses transport children to school free of charge on a daily basis.”

She expressed shock over the fact that the whereabouts of the free school busses remain unknown and the children made to suffer again.

“Where are these buses now? What is their current condition? Are Bonny children still benefiting from this service?”

Earlier in an online video that has gone viral, an indigene of Bonny LGA, Kalada Allison has raised alarm over the absence of the free school busses, asserting that it was insensitive for the current administration in Bonny LGA to play the ostrich while children in the area suffer.

The development has raised eyebrows among concerned citizens of Bonny with conversations in the virtual space over the whereabouts of the said busses gaining momentum.

Bonny netizens have continued calling out the Chairman of the LGA, Abinye Pepple to speak on the issue and assuage the suffering of parents and their wards.
