William Troost-Ekong Joins Qatar Stars League Side Al Ahli SC on Long-Term Deal

Qatar Stars League side Al Ahli SC have completed the signing of former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, strengthening their defence ahead of the second half of the season.

Al Ahli SC secured the experienced centre-back from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Kholood. The move adds leadership and top-level experience to Younes Ali’s squad as they aim to climb the Qatar Stars League table.

William Troost-Ekong Boosts Al Ahli SC Defence

Troost-Ekong has signed a contract with the Brigadiers that runs until June 2028 and will wear the number five jersey.

The club confirmed his arrival with a short message on their official Instagram page, welcoming the defender and highlighting their ambition for the future.

“Welcome to the club William. Let’s make history together,” the club wrote.

The Nigerian defender arrives after a solid spell with Al Kholood, where he made 49 appearances and scored twice.

Al Ahli SC currently sit ninth in the league standings with 15 points, four clear of the relegation zone. Troost-Ekong’s arrival is expected to add stability as the season progresses.

Younes Ali’s men will return to league action against Qatar SC on Saturday, 31 January, with all eyes on how quickly Ekong settles into his new environment.
