Youth Group in Khana Constituency II Declares Support for Candidate in RSHA By-election

The Nyokhana Youth Council (NYC) Worldwide has declared its support for Legborsi Yamaabana, and endorsed him to contest for the Khana State Constituency II seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly in the forthcoming by-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed Saturday, February 21, 2026 for bye-elections into the Ahoada-East II and Khana II State Constituencies of Rivers State.

The President of Nyokhana Youth Council Worldwide, Oscar Gbenemene announced this decision on Monday, January 12, 2026 at a well-attended event at Nyokhana in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Nyokhana, one of the traditional clans of the larger Ogoni community, forms the majority in the Khana State Constituency II, which accounts for the decisive nature of the voting strength of this segment of the constituency.

Gbenemene stressed that the Nyokhana Youth Council does not recognize, accept, or align with any political arrangement or agreement being promoted by anyone or group of people other than Legborsi Yamaabana.

He further stressed that same democratic maturity and respect were today being extended to the youths of Khana Constituency II.

The Youth President reiterated that the Nyokhana Youth Council remains committed to justice, equity, peace and the democratic aspirations of the Nyokhana people and Ogoni at large.
