The Federal Government has confirmed that air strikes by the United States Military in the North-Eastern region of the country took place.

Kristina Reports had earlier on Friday, December 26, 2025 reported that on the orders of US President, Donald Trump, the United State military had on Christmas day of 2025, initiated an air strike targeting terrorist operations in North-Eastern Nigeria.

President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.

According to the report by Kristina Reports, Trump announced the successful air strike on his Truth Social handle, saying that the terrorists’ activities being curtailed by the air strike formed the basis of alleged Christian genocide.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release on Friday, December 26, 2025, in Abuja signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi, stated that Nigeria had gone into a security and intelligence collaboration with the United States which aims at hitting terrorists’ enclaves in the country.

The Ministry said the air strikes launch is aimed at protecting lives of citizens irrespective of their faith or ethnicity, asserting that terrorism of any kind goes against the nation’s values and remains a threat to international peace and security.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confirms that Nigerian authorities remain engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States of America, in addressing the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism.”

“This has led to precision hits on terrorist targets in Nigeria by air strikes in the North West”.

It further stated that the security alliance was in compliance with already laid down international law practices.

“In line with established international practice and bilateral understandings, this cooperation includes the exchange of intelligence, strategic coordination, and other forms of support consistent with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security.”

The Federal Government also assured Nigerians that it is still the business of strengthening the country’s security architecture to ensure continuous protection of lives and properties by engaging relevant partners, prevent cross-border threats, finance logistics and work closely with established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorists’ networks.
