Following the recent air strike on Nigerian soil by the United States Military, several reactions, controversies and concerns have been sparked among citizens.

One such controversy raised is by popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who has urged the Federal Government to immediately halt all military cooperation with the United States following reports of US airstrikes in Nigeria.

In a viral post, Gumi said that the United States is not the right means of assistance in times like this if a foreign body should intervene into the security affairs of the country.

“This is the mistake Nigeria has made. Terror!sts don’t f!ght terrorists in truth; they may only kill innocent people and have ulterior motives behind the drama of fighting ‘terror’.

“As a principle, no nation should allow its land to be a theater of war. And no nation should allow its neighbors to be their enemies. If Nigeria wants military assistance, China, Turkey, and Pakistan can do the job effectively.”

“The US involvement in Nigeria will attract the real ant!-US forces, making our land the theater of war.”

“The USA’s involvement in Nigeria, citing coming to ‘protect Christians’, will ultimately polarize our nation and infringe on our sovereignty.”

On his part, a community leader in Rivers State, Harrigan Pepple expressed his satisfaction over the attack by the US and also concerns about the situation.

“Well-done, but they shouldn’t stop at pursuing only the ISIL, which group they have been fighting worldwide.”

“They should go to the Boko Haram strongholds in the northeast and the herdsmen around the Middlebelt.”

Another popular Islamic personnel, Moyi through a tweet shared on his X social handle (@UK_Moyi), says the act is unjustified and says President Trump’s intent is to cause more chaos rather than bringing peace.

” He claims “protecting Christians in Nigeria” while erasing reality.

Muslims are the largest victims of terrorism in Nigeria.. killed daily, villages wiped out, mosques burned, children kidnapped.

Boko Haram, ISIS-WA, and bandits murder Muslims more than anyone else and do not represent Islam.

“This isn’t justice. Its selective outrage turned into politics.

You don’t bomb Nigerian land, ignore Muslim blood, slap on a “Merry Christmas,” and call it moral.”

“Nigeria’s crisis is a security failure, not a religious war.

Framing it as Christians vs Muslims is dishonest, and dangerous. If lives truly mattered, no victims would be erased for headlines. Truth doesn’t fear attention.”
